Boccafosca

Country:

Marche

Region:

Boccafosca started in 2006 with the renovation of an old winery owned by one of the many cooperatives in Marche.
They focus on conscious farming and production processes aimed at keeping the quality of wine unaltered, while combining new technologies with the secrets of farming tradition. The company origins from ancient agricultural tradition made of land handed down from father to son in each family, cultivating their own vineyards and making wine in the underground cellars of each farmhouse.
Today the company is managed by two families who jointly work at the vineyards and winery. The vineyards are located at the center of the Marche region and extend from the slopes of the Apennines to almost touching the Adriatic Sea, with varying altitudes that reach 450 meters at the tops of the Cupramontana, the coastal hills around the Medieval Castles of “I Castelli di Jesi”, guarded by intact walls, cradle of the Verdicchio of ancient times. Going down to the gentle hills leading to the sea, are the Lacrima vineyards, very small denomination, limited production, allowed only in some areas around the city of Morro d’Alba.
Sustainability centers on organic growing practices as well as biodiversity. In addition to vineyards Boccafosca cultivates olive groves, sunflowers, and cereals.
Soils are made of mainly clay and chalk, grapes are hand harvested.
“The organic practices and the manual work implemented in our vineyards allow us to live in harmony with the delicate ecosystem we are part of”
