Domaine des Carteresses is in the Rhône Valley 15km from Avignon and Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The estate is run by the Barrelet family for 3 generations. Its geographical position in the heart of the Tavel vineyards is an indication of its deep local roots. Average age of the vines is 35 years old, total of 15 hectares grown on limestone and clay soil, doted with round pebbles. The wine is vinified separately at Cave de Tavel, a co-op that was formed back in 1937 by few ambitious winemakers driven by love for their land, seeking to combine tradition and modernity.
Our Wines
Tavel Rosé
2022
Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre, Picpoul and Clairette. Vinified more like a red wine with long maceration of 48 to 72 hours. After pressing, fermentation in cement tanks for 10 to 15 days at low temperature (55-57°F). Stored in stainless steel till bottling
Les Carteresses Côtes du Rhône
2023
60% Grenache Noir, 20% Syrah, 20% Carignan & Mourvèdre. Grapes are destemmed followed by 3 weeks maceration, pumping-over several times during the alcoholic fermentation. Temperatures are monitored and raised gradually to encourage fermentation. Raised in stainless steel tanks.
