Domaine Laurent Roumier is part of the divided Domaine Georges Roumier, which was created in 1924 by Laurent’s grandfather. For him, being a winemaker isn’t work but passion.
After partnering for a long time with his brother Hervé, Laurent decides to create his own Domaine back in 1991 with 4 hectares under vine. As he continue to purchase plots, the Domaine slowly grows and today it represents about 12 hectares. All of the plots are located in the village Chambolle-Musigny, the vines are all old with an average age of 35 years. The farming follows Burgundy traditions, the same way his father, Alain, worked, in a completely natural way with neither fertilizer nor herbicides. Vinification also follows the old fashion way, focused on development of the wine’s exceptional aromas.
The harvest is done all by hand with first selection done in the vineyards.
Laurent is a quiet man and quite secretive about his winemaking, the wines talk for themselves! Laurent Roumier makes a range of cuvées starting with a Hautes-Côtes-de-Nuits, a delicious fruity fresh wine, continuing with a very lacy Chambolle-Musigny, typical Village style, and finishing in apotheosis with two legendary grands crus, 'Clos Vougeot' and 'Bonnes-Mares'. The wines offer great finesse and very elegant aromas.
